My name is Emily, but I also go by Em and Emmie. I am a soon-to-be Communications and Media grad with an eclectic background in a lot of different areas. I have spent time in retail, customer service, ministry, and childcare, to name just a few of the hats I have worn! Within my ministry experience, I was lucky to experience everything from running a weekend experience, planning events, and social media management. I have also been lucky to have had experience in guest relations at a major theme park in my area (think Mouse), and while I don't speak for the brand or the company I work for, I have so much gratitude for the learning I have experienced working in a theme park. I love interacting with new people and different cultures, and getting to help people is one of my favorite things.
Some fun facts about me:
I was born in Newport Beach, California.
My favorite book of all time is The Lord of the Rings.
My favorite color is green.
I love all animals. I have two dogs. I'm allergic to cats, or I would have cats, too. Elephants are my favorite animals, but you can't exactly keep one in a suburban backyard. I also really want an Axolotl, but they're not legal in my state.
My current comfort TV series is The Rookie starring Nathan Fillion. Is it weird for a cop show to be a comfort show?
I am left-handed, but am learning how to crochet with my right hand.
Some personal highlights of my work experience include:
During my time in ministry, I learned a lot about graphic design and also about managing social media. I helped design and print these mugs! It was so fun to learn the process of designing and creating mugs on a dye-sublimation machine and using a heat press to transfer the designs to the mugs. I also learned how to use a direct-to-garment printer, and got to help design sweatershirts and t-shirts as merchandise. It takes a lot of care and patience to use these machines, but it is so much fun.
This is my first-ever Disney nametag. Working at Disney impacted my outlook on the world and reminded me of how much fun life can be. I have learned a lot about professionalism and working with different people and cultures, and I have combined that with communication skills, which I hope will improve my professional life. In many ways, my time at Disney represents a childhood dream come true and a period of professional and personal growth in my life.
The picture above is from an end-of-year party I planned. It was the highlight of my time in ministry. Event planning is probably my favorite professional experience (also the most exhausting.) This ended up being my last big event in ministry, and though it is a bittersweet memory, the process was one of my favorite memories, where I felt as if I was truly accomplishing something and working hard to achieve my goals and the vision that my coworkers and I had. I would love to plan more events in the future.
